Microsoft Windows 7

The latest is out from Microsoft once again. Far from fears Windows 7 is actually not half bad. It makes multitasking easier. It also has a ton of new tools that make everyday tasks much simpler. Though full testing has not been done with some of our products. For those of you out there looking for an all in one system this is it. I am personally using the system everyday now, and shocking but true; I'm still happy.

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2

The newest Version of Server 2008 R2 is on its way. It doesn't look ready yet. If you plan on using Exchange it appears you would need to use Exchange version 2010. We'll the problem is that 2010 isn't even out for testing yet. There dose appear to be some big benefits as like there were coming from when 2003 R2 was released, but it just seems more like a service pack that prevents you from using older versions of Microsoft software with it more than anything else. Looks like to us Microsoft is changing how there operating system dose things once again just like how Visa was to XP. We will let you know more as we find out.

Social Networking – A Security Risk

Today’s popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace are vastly growing in popularity daily.  Unfortunately, they have been found to be a source of Viruses, Trojans, and Malware which can infect your systems and networks.   In a recent news report, one of the US Military branches has banned these sites from their network users.  The results are slow workstations, data loss, system crashes, etc.  They can also send spam from your network/workstations and your mail flow might come to a halt if your domain becomes blacklisted.  Unfortunately, we have come across several of these scenarios with our clients.  We have recommended solutions to them and they have now altered their business practices to assist in combating these current issues.
